Product description
As a brand-new connection method in China, the grooved connection of large-diameter steel pipes has been widely used in developed countries abroad for over a century. With mature technology, it has been restricted from popularization in China due to the monopoly of the grooving technology. Relying on the powerful R&D team of Meide Group, the technological monopoly has been broken and the innovative grooved connection solution for large-diameter steel pipes (DN300-DN2000) has been promoted in line with the development direction of the industry. The large-diameter grooved coupling is composed of three parts: rubber ring, multi-piece pipe clamp and bolts. It is suitable for long-distance water transmission networks in water conservancy and municipal comprehensive pipe galleries.
Customer challenge
Need to Enhance Pipeline Durability: Traditional welded connections for steel pipes often result in incomplete anti-corrosion treatment at the joints, reducing the service life of the pipeline network.
Need to Ensure Pipeline Operation Safety: Rigid connections at steel pipe joints cannot effectively prevent unforeseen geological issues, which may lead to pipe bursts and significant water resource wastage. Additionally, traditional methods require open flame operations, posing various potential safety hazards.
Need to Shorten Construction Cycles and Reduce Costs: Traditional steel pipe connection methods require specialized personnel for operation, increasing construction time and project schedule risks, as well as labor costs and equipment investment.

Installation and Maintenance
Compared with traditional welding or flange connections, the grooved coupling has a faster installation speed and shorter construction period, reducing labor costs. The overall project cost is lower due to the reduction of on-site anti-corrosion treatment and welding processes. The large-diameter grooved coupling is widely used in fields such as long-distance water transmission networks in water conservancy and municipal integrated utility tunnels.
On-site installation does not require open flame operations, avoiding the fire risks associated with welding. The grooved connection method is free from welding slag and smoke pollution, making the construction process environmentally friendly.
The large-diameter grooved coupling uses a mechanical connection method, eliminating the need for on-site welding and completely solving the corrosion problem at the welding joints. This connection method can extend the on-site corrosion resistance service life from the traditional 20–30 years of welding to over 50 years. The surface of the pipe clamp can also be treated with anti-corrosion methods such as powder coating to further enhance its corrosion resistance.
The grooved coupling can achieve flexible connections of pipes, effectively solving leakage problems caused by pipe settlement, expansion, contraction, and thermal expansion and contraction. The flexible joint design allows pipes to move freely within a certain range, adapting to complex geological conditions such as soft foundations and seismic zones.
The installation is simple and quick, requiring only ordinary workers with wrenches to complete the process, without the need for professional welding skills. The coupling is easy to disassemble and assemble, allowing for convenient replacement of pipe fittings during maintenance, reducing maintenance time and costs. It is suitable for installation in confined spaces and occupies little space.
Value advantage
  • Reducing Construction Difficulty and Cost
    Reducing Construction Difficulty and Cost
The use of grooved connections for steel pipe joints on the construction site eliminates the hassle of welding, thereby reducing construction complexity and costs associated with labor and welding equipment. This also accelerates the construction schedule, offering significant advantages in engineering applications.
  • Corrosion Resistance and Long Service Life
Corrosion Resistance and Long Service Life
The grooved pipe clamps feature exceptional corrosion resistance. With no need for on-site anti-corrosion treatment, the corrosion resistance at the joints can last over 50 years, completely solving the corrosion problem of traditional welded joints.
  • Water Quality Safety
    Water Quality Safety
The use of grooved connections at the joints eliminates the risk of anti-corrosion leakage on-site, enhancing the overall anti-corrosion capability of the pipeline. This ensures better water quality safety.
